Abstract

Live interactive polling in classroom allows teachers to quickly ask a question and instantly receive feedback from students. This is a very efficient strategy to engage students in an online lecture, but it can be used in a face-toface classroom as well, especially in large cohorts. Besides effective learning, the advantage of using polling is the chance for the teacher to instantly get a gauge on how well topics are understood within the lecture and take advantage of this by focusing on things that need further explanation. This research reports the experiences of using polls in two different groups, university students within a few courses in the field of computer science and mathematics, and math elementary school students.
