In this paper the major e-government maturity indexes are compared with their strengths and shortcomings. First these proposed indexes from different authors and organizations are analyzed individually and then they are compared to each other. The purpose of this paper is not to propose a new way of measuring e-government maturity. Rather, it is an attempt to compare the existing indexes and to point out the shortcomings of the already existing indexes in order to contribute toward an improvement of these quantitative measures.
