The rapid development of technology enables the collection of huge amount of data in almost all fields of science, industry and everyday life. Ap-propriate extraction of knowledge from these data can contribute to the deci-sion-making process. From a statistical point of view, the large data could arise in the following cases, either huge number of predictors, huge number of sam-ple points, or both. The classical statistical methods are no longer applicable to the analysis of these massive sets that are diverse in structure. This is a chal-lenge in recent years for exploring new statistical approaches and adapting ex-isting statistical methods to address new challenges. New methodologies are still under development. We will discuss several common strategies big data analysis such as data wrangling, visualization, dimensionality reduction, sparsi-ty, optimization and multi-disciplinarity .
